Feast with Gods (Olympus Mountain)
Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece and symbol for Greek mythology, ancient religion and of the mountaineering. Olympus has 52 peaks, the highest of all Mytikas at 2,918m., has been conquered first time in 1913. Home of the 12 Olympian Gods, the mountain is rich in flora and fauna, being listed to UNESCO World’s Biosphere Reserve since 1981. This iconic program is ideal for lovers of hiking, wild nature, bonding and team building activities.
Detailed Itinerary
Day : 1 - Athens – Dion – Litochoro
08h00 departure to Dion. Visit to the archeological site which spans across 150 hectares, of which 50 Ha belonging to sanctuaries. The most important archaeological park in Macedonia has been an important spiritual and cultural center equal to Delphi and Olympia, also the city where Alexander the Great kicked-off his expedition to Persia. Arrival and overnight stay to Litochoro.
Day : 2 - Litochoro – Mt.Olympus
Arrival to Prionia (1,100m), starting point through E4 trekking trail to refuge A (2,100m) after hiking for 3½ hrs. Check-in at dormitories and time at leisure. In an evening walk you may feel the energy of the mountain, listening about flora and fauna and enjoy the breathtaking view to the peaks and the seas. Dinner and overnight stay to the shelter.
Day : 3 - Mt.Olympus (Skala – Mytikas)
Weather permitted, early morning you climb towards Skala (2,866m) and then to Mytikas, the highest peak of Olympus (2.918m). Last sector of the track will be on a particularly difficult although exciting path. Highly energetic and full of experiences you will reach the shelter in the evening. Dinner and overnight. (Total hiking est. 9 hours)
Day : 4 - Mt.Olympus – Old Panteleimon – Athens
Getting on board vehicle(s) you will be heading towards the monastery of St. Dionysios to see the waterfalls of Enipea river (10mins walk). Programme concludes in the unique village of Old Panteleimon, being model of development with particular respect to the tradition and the environment. Arrival to Athens in late evening.
