West Macedonia Panorama

Western Macedonia is considered to be the “energy heart» of Greece, since its territory produced 2/3 of the country’s energy. Furthermore this land is rich in history, nature, architecture and romance. Western Macedonia is famous among others for the historical Vergina with the glorious tomb of King Philip II and the Golden Larnax decorated with the 16 ray Sun of Vergina on the lid, symbol of Macedonia. Here is situated the romantic village by the lake Kastoria with its magnificent Ottoman style mansions and Byzantine churches and important center for fur trade in Europe. Prespa National Park is adding to the beauty of the landscape with large number of rare species of flora and fauna, unique Byzantine small churches and lonely hermitages. This is only a small part of what you are going to experience by following this cultural journey at the Northwest part of Greece.
