Mount Pelion is considered to be a paradise on earth for nature lovers, naturalists, archaeologists, anthropologists and historians. In the slopes of the mountain have been gods, semi-gods, centaurs, titans, giants, nymphs, dryads, kings, and heroes for millennia. No wonder this land was Olympian Gods’ resort and home of Centaurs, who according to Greek mythology, they had a human upper torso and animal (horse) underneath. In Pelion took place the first beauty contest between the beautiful and powerful goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, whilst in the 13^th century BC set sail the famous Argo to Troia with 50 Argonauts crew led by Jason. This journey unfolds treasures of myths, legends, history and cultural heritage, injecting experiences that you will never forget.

Detailed Itinerary

Day : 1 - Athens - Volos (Athanasakion Archaeological Museum – Makrinitsa)

08h30 departure to Volos, the capital of Magnesia, built at the innermost point of the Pagasetic Gulf which spreads in the plain on the foothills of Mount Pelion. Arrival, check-in to the hotel and visit to Athanasakion Archaeological Museum which houses exhibits from the Paleolithic up until the Roman period. The day concludes to Makrinitsa (the "balcony of Pelion"), being a traditional settlement providing breathtaking view to Volos and the sea. Return to Volos. Overnight.

Day : 2 - Gatzea - Horse riding – Milies – Vizitsa – St. George Nilias

Full of colors and experiences is today’s programme at Pelion Mountain. In Gatzea you will be instructed on how to riding a horse, and start an 1 ½ hrs trip on the slopes of the mountain towards the beautiful village of Milies, where you will see number of traditional houses, cobbled streets, the terminal station of Pelion little train, the 19th century Library and the magnificent church of Taxiarches which is unknown when and by whom that was built. Early afternoon you visit Vizitsa, a well preserved settlement where you will enjoy traditional family food prepared only for you. On the way back, short visit to St. George Nilias to see the Municipal Museum which houses sculptures of the artist Nicolas. Return to Volos. Time at leisure.

Day : 3 - Volos - Tsalapatas Museum - Athens

Morning at leisure. 12h00 you visit Tsalapatas Museum which is housed in the old Rooftile and Brickworks Factory, highlighting daily life in the factory, as well as all the production stages of different types of bricks and tiles, showcasing the historical identity of Volos and to contribute to the preservation and promotion of its industrial heritage. Arrival to Athens in late evening.
