Feast with Gods – Mt. Olympus

The highest mountain of Greece, Mount Olympus, was first ascended in 1913. Symbol of mythology, of ancient religion and of the modern Greek mountaineering, it has 52 peaks which the highest is Mytikas at 2,918m. Rich of flora & fauna, the mountain as of 1981 is listed a UNESCO World's Biosphere Reserve. In Greek mythology, Olympus was renowned as the "home" of the 12 Olympian after they have defeated the Titans during the Titans' War. This program is exclusively for people with special interests in trekking, flora & fauna, the mythology and for establishing effective team spirit relations.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Athens – Dion – Litohoro

Departure for Dion archaeological site. Our guided visit will let us see the importance of a city which was lying equally to Delphi & Olympia, as the spiritual & cultural center in Macedonia between the 4th to 2nd b.C centuries. Dinner and overnight stay at Litohoro. (450 km)

Day 2: Litohoro – Prionia – Mt.Olympus

After breakfast depart to Prionia at 1,100m. After 3 ½ hrs ascending on the trekking trail E4 we reach our shelter at 2.100m alt. Check-in our dormitories and time at leisure. Then a walk around to discover Mt.Olympus energy, to enjoy the breathtaking view of the peaks and the sea, and be introduced of the residence of the Gods. Dinner and overnight at the shelter.

Day 3: Mt.Olympus (Skala – Mytikas)

Considered the conditions on the mountain, early morning we leave to Skala (2.866m.) and then for Mitikas, the highest peak of Mount Olympus at 2.918m. Last sector will be in a particularly difficult but exciting alpine route. Return to the shelter in the evening. Dinner and overnight. (trekking time est. 8-9 hours).

Day 4: Mt.Olympus – Ρ.Panteleimonas – Athens

After breakfast move for a 3 hours descending to Prionia. Board our vehicles and departure to P.Panteleimonas. Stop en route to the monastery of Ag.Dionysios to enjoy a 10 mins river walk up to Enipeas waterfalls. Our last stop is at Old Panteleimon traditional village. Late evening arrive to Athens. (450km)

Mandatory: Mountaineering boots with hard soles / Hiking socks / Mountain sticks / Backpack with wide shoulder straps / Jacket or windbreaker / Fleece / Comfortable long pants / Sunglasses / Lens with spare batteries / Sun cream / Liposan for lips / Bottle of water 2 liters / Accident Insurance

For the overnight to the shelter (earplugs, slippers, 2 sheets or sleeping bag, toilet paper, soap, towels)

Optional: A 2nd pair of sports shoes / Gloves / cap / towel / Insulated clothing / 2-3 cotton t-shirts / Plastic bags / Chocolate, Raisins , Candy , Sandwich / Nuts (not salted) / windbreaker pants / Whistle / Knife / Thermometer / Lighter / Pharmacy / Compass / GPS / Map / Camera
